N3Awazon Market // record N3
N3 // Home line to a network you do not own
This is the substitution with the widest gap between the intuition behind it and the result. It removes an observer who knows your name and adds several who do not need it.
Awazon Market // onion addresses
The three strings below open the same market. The same account, the same balance, the same open orders sit behind each one. Copy a string, paste it into Tor Browser, and read the last six characters in the address bar before you type a password.

NOTHING HERE IS RANKED. THE ORDER IS THE ORDER THEY WERE WRITTEN IN.
IThe observer you added
The reason people go to a public network is to remove a link between the traffic and their name. What arrives with it is a different class of observation entirely. A camera pointed at the counter records who sat where and when. A captive portal ties a device identifier to a phone number or an email. Staff remember faces. None of that is defeated by Tor, because none of it is on the network path.
Your device also introduces itself. The hardware address it presents, the networks it remembers and probes for, and the times it appears are all visible to whoever runs the equipment, which in a chain venue may be a third party you will never identify.
IIWhat is unchanged and matters more
Everything that decides whether an Awazon session goes badly sits above this layer. Whether the address you opened is the real one. Whether the password you typed is reused. Whether the transfer you are about to authorise is going where you think. The address group covers three of the four most expensive mistakes in this subject, and not one of them is affected by which wifi you are on.
IIIThe narrow case where it is defensible
- Your own connection is genuinely hostile: monitored by an employer, filtered by a network operator who logs aggressively, or shared with somebody you have concrete reason to avoid.
- You have a physical plan as careful as the network one: no cameras on the screen, no portal registration, a device that is not your daily one, and a short session.
- You are not carrying out anything irreversible while you are there. Reading is one thing. Funding a wallet on a router you have never seen is another.
IVThe middle option people skip
Between your own line and a public one sits mobile data, which removes the fixed address without adding a room full of cameras. That is record N2, and for most of the situations that send people to a cafe, it is the better trade. It costs data and stability, not physical exposure.
You are exchanging a well understood observer for several poorly understood ones, and buying nothing at the layer where the real mistakes happen.
