How a record is built and how to read it
A record is not advice. It is a small comparison with everything held still except one thing, written down so that you can disagree with the conclusion and still use the observation.

IThe baseline
Nothing can be compared without a fixed point. Every record on this site measures against the same one, and where a record needs a different starting point it says so in its first field.
That baseline is not presented as the correct setup. It is presented as a fixed one. Its only job is to be the thing that does not move while something else does.
IIThe six fields
Every record fills in the same six fields, in the same order, so that two records can be compared without reading either in full.
IIIWhy the fourth field exists
The field for what does not move is the reason this site is organised this way. It is the field almost nobody writes, and it is where the expensive mistakes live.
Consider a common example. Somebody puts a VPN in front of Tor because it feels like an extra layer. The change is real, it does something, and it can be argued for. What it does not do is hide the Awazon address you visit from the market, change what your account looks like from the inside, or protect a password typed into a clone. Yet the feeling it produces is general safety, and a general feeling of safety spends itself on unrelated decisions later the same evening. That is how a neutral change turns into a negative one.
A substitution that produces more confidence than protection is worse than no substitution, because the confidence gets spent somewhere the protection does not reach.

VWhat is deliberately absent
No record contains a number that was not counted, and none contains a claim about whether an address is reachable at this moment. Reachability over Tor is decided by the circuit your own client builds when you click, which is why the answer differs between two people sitting in the same room. The procedure for answering it yourself is record T2, and it is the only honest form the answer takes.
Vendors are also absent. Nothing here rates a seller, a listing, or a price, and no page on the open web is in a position to. Those live inside the market with your own eyes on them.
