T4 // A new account to an established one

Age is a signal in this ecosystem and it is a real one. It points in the opposite direction from the one buyers assume.

Awazon Market // onion addresses

The three strings below open the same market. The same account, the same balance, the same open orders sit behind each one. Copy a string, paste it into Tor Browser, and read the last six characters in the address bar before you type a password.

NOTHING HERE IS RANKED. THE ORDER IS THE ORDER THEY WERE WRITTEN IN.

Baseline
A newly registered account.
Substitution
An account with months of history, orders and feedback behind it.
What moves
How vendors treat you, and occasionally what the market lets you do. Some limits relax with history.
Does not move
Your exposure. An older account is a larger record of you in one place, not a smaller one.
Cost
The record itself, which grows with every order and is exactly what a seizure or a compromise reaches.
Verdict
Buys nothing in your favour. It is a signal for the other side of the transaction to read.

IWho the signal is for

Age and feedback exist so that strangers can decide whether to deal with each other. A vendor reading a buyer's history is doing the same thing a buyer does when reading a vendor's. It is a market mechanism and it works, in that direction.

What it does not do is protect the account holder. Nothing about the age of an account makes a password stronger, an address more genuine, or a transfer reversible. The record simply gets longer.

IIThe direction people get backwards

An established account contains months of messages, shipping details, disputes and order history in a single place. If that account is compromised, or the platform is taken, the amount of material is proportional to the age. The new account is the one with almost nothing in it.

This is why the verdict is what it is. Age has value, but the value accrues to the transaction rather than to you, and the cost accrues to you.

IIIWhat actually reduces the pile

IVThe buying an account variant

Occasionally people buy an aged account to skip the wait. That hands your session to somebody who knows the credentials, knows the recovery path, and chose to sell rather than to use it. It is a substitution with no upside at all, and it does not appear in the index because it is not a variation on the baseline, it is a different transaction with a stranger.

IN ONE LINE

Age tells a vendor something about you. It tells an attacker how much is in the file.
